Gardens in May

This was a glorious year for the flowering shrubs on the Maine coast. The perennials are starting to come along well now, and though it's been a bit dry, it's looking like a pretty gardening season. The annual containers are potted and placed, and aside from a few things that need to be moved, or put in the ground (like tomatoes, cucumbers and a beautiful new red hydrangea), the garden is pretty much on it's way. Lots more work to do in the fall, however. Two lilacs need to be moved away from the walkway; newly-rooted rhododendron babies will need to find a spot in the woodland gardens that Scott is developing; still need more room for more daylilies that I want to move (and buy); a few hostas will need relocating. It's never ending. Oh, and we still need to get some mulch for the beds asap.
